What makes Safe-Sea a better choice than the rest?

It’s A Sustainable Product

Simply put, farmed fish and wild fish are a problem.

Unhealthy omega-6 fats like linoleic acid come from farmed fish which are fed things like corn and soy.

And when it comes to wild fish, they are harvested yearly for oil and fertilizer. This leads to declining populations of larger sea animals and whales because they’re robbed of their food source.

The Green Lipped Mussel in Safe-Sea is sustainable. They’re farmed in pure and nutrient-dense waters in New Zealand.

Our mussels grow along ropes where they soak up phytoplankton from the water.

Phytoplankton grows from sunlight, so our mussels don't have to compete for their food source with marine life. As a bonus, by controlling phytoplankton it in turn manages algae blooms.

It’s Rich & Potent

The more the merrier. While most fish oils only contain two fatty acids, Green Lipped Mussel Oil contains 30. One of those fatty acids is called  ETA (eicosatetraenoic acid), and Green Lipped Mussels are one of the only generous sources of this important anti-inflammatory omega-3.

Green Lipped Mussel Oil is also a good source of another important omega-3 fatty acid called Phospholipids. Phospholipids are absorbed easily and resistant to oxidation.

According to a study published in Inflammopharmacology in 1997, phospholipids make Green Lipped Mussel Oil 158 times more effective than fish oil. (See Research Below)

It’s A Complete Source Of Fatty Acids

Ahiflower is an important part of Safe-Sea. It’s a powerful plant rich in omega fatty acids. One of those is an omega-6 fatty acid called GLA (gamma-linolenic acid). It helps reduce inflammation and promotes good skin health.

In addition to GLA, Ahiflower produces more SDA (stearidonic acid) than any other plant source out there. SDA is a precursor for EPA, which is an anti-inflammatory omega-3 in fish oil.

The blend between Green Lipped Mussel Oil and Ahiflower creates a super source of omega fatty acids making it a high-quality oil for dogs.

It’s Clean

Safe-Sea’s Green Lipped Mussels are grown in clean water in New Zealand. It’s controlled by the New Zealand government ensuring the supply is superior and sustainable.

Green Lipped Mussels feed on phytoplankton, which means they aren’t as easily contaminated with mercury, PCBs, and dioxins like salmon, herring, and other fish.

Our Green Lipped Mussels are always freeze-dried and without going through a heating process to stabilize delicate oils. Every batch of Safe-Sea is quality tested for heavy metals, PCBs, and toxins.

Every batch of our Ahiflower is tested to be free of chemicals, pesticides, and metals. Grown in the UK and PEI you can feel confident that they are grown and harvested under strict government regulations.

afe-Sea is a premium product that stands out among the rest. Every bottle is a high-quality blend of pure and sustainable ingredients. (No heat processing and no fillers to worry about).

Green Lipped Mussel Oil

Green lipped mussels are one of the planet's greatest sources of ETA. ETA is an omega-3 fat that’s been studied to help with inflammation and other immune support. (See research below)

Ahiflower

Ahiflower contains 60% more GLA than hemp, making it a powerful anti-inflammatory omega-6. It also houses 10x more SDA … which is a precursor to ETA and EPA (two more anti-inflammatory fats). Grown in the UK and Prince Edward Island, Canada, Ahiflower is proudly non-GMO.

Astaxanthin

Our Astaxanthin is never synthetic and always 100% natural and sustainable.

Its unique molecular structure makes it the "King Of Antioxidants."

In fact, Astaxanthin is has proven to be stronger than vitamin E & C … (more than 500 times stronger!)

Active Ingredients per 3.75 ml (3/4 tsp):

What makes Safe-Sea red?

Safe-Sea's bold red and orange color comes from astaxanthin.

Because oils can oxidize when exposed to lights and oxygen, it creates unhealthy free radicals/reactive oxygen species in your dog.

Antioxidants help neutralize free radicals and the damage they can cause and are an important component of any fish oil.

With the help of antioxidants, free radicals can neutralize and resist causing damage. This is a crucial part of any fish oil.

The antioxidants in our astaxanthin are rich and potent.

In fact, they are 500 times stronger than vitamin E and 6,000 times stronger than vitamin C.

We’ve taken every extra precaution to make sure Safe-Sea is fresh, safe and effective.

Can I just give my dog Safe-Sea rather than fish oil?

Yep! Safe-Sea is a powerhouse loaded with more omega-3 fatty acids and roughly 10 times more than fish oil!

Green Lipped Mussel also has a superpower called phospholipids. Phospholipids make Green Lipped Mussel more bioavailable than fish oil. In one study published in Inflammopharmacology by Whitehouse et al (1997), researchers found that this bioavailability shows green lipped mussel oil is 247 times stronger than salmon oil.

The truth is, marine oils lack GLA. This is an important anti-inflammatory omega fat. But Ahiflower in Safe-Sea is a rich source of GLA. It has 60% more GLA than hempseed oil.

Why is there Ahiflower in Safe-Sea?

Ahiflower is there to provide Safe-Sea with a healthy helping of GLA.

GLA (gamma-linolenic acid) is an anti-inflammatory fatty acid that is lacking in most marine oils. GLA has been shown to help decrease pain and stiff mobility associated with issues like arthritis. As a bonus, it helps support a healthy skin and coat.

Couldn’t I just use powdered or fresh mussels instead?

In a lot of cases, using Green Lipped Mussel oil is best:

1. The oil is much more concentrated. In order to achieve the same amount go omega-3 fat, you would want to give your dog roughly 15X more powder. This might be a bit of an overload of powder for your dog.

2. When it comes to shellfish allergies, there are less proteins to ignite an allergic reaction in your dog.

3. A lot of Many Green Lipped Mussel powders remove the fats from their product before they hit the shelves. These wasted products are often sold as pet supplements. By stripping the fat away, your dog loses out on some serious health benefits.

How do I know if Safe-Sea is Eco Friendly?

Our Green Lipped Mussels absorb healthy amounts of phytoplankton without having to share the resource with other marine life. They grow naturally on ropes, in clean water, in the bays of New Zealand.

They require no additional foods which means they have no negative impact on the environment. After 12 to 18 months they are ready for harvest.

(Even the phytoplankton they eat is sustainable, all they need to do to survive is get sunlight!)

The Ahiflower comes from the UK and PEI in Canada. It’s non-GMO and each batch is tested to be free of heavy metals, PCBs and pesticides.

Is Safe-Sea the right product to help my dog’s joint pain?

The anti-inflammatory fatty acids in Safe-Sea can help support joint health. Try combining Safe-Sea with Green Eggs for best results.

How does Safe-Sea compare to Phytoplankton?

Green Lipped Mussels feed on phytoplankton. This means they not only give your dog the same fat benefits, it comes from a more concentrated form that’s bioavailable.

Safe-Sea’s blend of ingredients give your dog a much bigger supply of omega fats than phytoplankton alone.

Is there a lot of EPA is in Safe-Sea?

Safe-Sea includes over 30 fatty acids.

This makes it 158 times more effective than fish oil and 247 times more effective than salmon oil.

Most fish oils contain 180 mg of EPA and 120 mg DHA. (But those are only essential two fats, compared to the 30 in Safe-Sea)

Now, green lipped mussel comes in short with only half the amount of EPA as fish oil.

But it houses EPA and DHA precursors … ETA and SDA. These two essential fatty acids simply convert to EPA and DHA whenever your dog’s body is in need of it. This gentle process means your dog won’t have too much EPA.

Lastly, ETA is an important anti-inflammatory that is NOT in fish oil.

Safe-Sea or Fish Oil: What’s the difference?

1. Safe-Sea has the same fatty acids (EPA and DHA) as fish oil does. But in addition, it has SDA and ETA. Both get converted to EPA and DHA only when your dog’s body needs it. This is much safer because too much EPA can cause bleeding in your dog. Safe-Sea, allows your dog to convert what is needed. Plus fish oil does not have ETA in it, which is an anti-inflammatory powerhouse of its own.

2. With Safe-Sea, you get a more complete and bioavailable product. Fish oil has EPA, and in order for it to work the EPA must be converted by enzymes. This is an inefficient process. One study found that that green lipped mussel is 158 times more effective at reducing inflammation than fish oil.

Safe-Sea can’t be judged by its EPA and DHA content alone. This is true for fish oil because these are the only two fatty acids it has. (See research below)

3. Safe-Sea house GLA. GLA does not come naturally from marine oils. It is however in Ahiflower, hemp and evening primrose oils.

We’ve added Ahiflower to Safe-Sea because of its rich source of GLA. It has 60% more than hempseed oil.

GLA is an anti-inflammatory fat that helps supports your dog’s healthy skin and coat.

Why is there Olive Oil in Safe-Sea?

Simply because olive oil is a natural antioxidant. It’s a good source of fats for your dog!

Why isn’t there an eye-dropper with Safe-Sea, like the one that comes with CBD oil?

The short answer is oxygen.

You see, fatty acids in fish oils (and Safe-sea) are delicate and often oxidize when its exposed to oxygen.

The oxidization of fats can cause damage to your dog’s cell membranes which can then cause inflammation.

You can’t squeeze all of the oil out of the rubber bulb of the dropper. This means the oil will sit in the dropper, get exposed to oxygen and oxidize.

A dropper is way more convenient, we know, but because we’re serious about your dog’s health, we can’t recommend using a dropper with Safe-Sea.
